Our Story

It began in 2015.

We started out by turning an old Bedford truck into a mobile brewing and food stand. It wasn’t long before Malcolm and Meron were hitting the streets with fresh food and innovative brews.

“The whole process of brewing fascinated me — it’s just as much a science as an art and there’s so much to learn about it. Brewing was a hobby for me back then but the beer industry had me captivated.”

Cargo became known for its great events, vibrant atmosphere and high quality drinks.

When the opportunity came to manage one of Queenstown’s oldest pubs, Cargo jumped at it. In the background, their new venue and drink making space was being built. By the start of 2024, Cargo passed the pub onto its next custodians and set up in their new home.

The current chapter of The Cargo Collective has begun with the new Brew Hall in Arthurs Point. Cargo now has a space that provides a venue for private functions, a backdrop for local events and plenty of room to keep crafting high quality brews and spirits.
